Genomic/Genetic Specialist

Genetic specialists can help identify the appropriate tests to order, consider the family history, and provide information about the treatment and long-term outcomes for patients diagnosed with a genetic disorder. They may recommend a referral or referrals to other medical specialists. Genomic testing iscommonly used in cancer treatment to determine how a tumor is likely to behave.

Genetic tests are done by analyzing small samples of blood or body tissues to determine whether you, your partner, or your offspring carry genes for certain inherited disorders.
